Do you remember the early 00s Bullet Time War '? Every game should have one, and not one of them is correct. We lost a lot of good games during that time; adding unnecessary lost of silent film gimmick.
But then Max Payne ($ 2.99) was released, and spent the war ended. There is no disputing that, ultimately, the game had a bullet right time. The day was almost 11 years ago, and since then the world has changed. The game still apply bullet time, most of them successful, but they all owe to Max Payne.

For those of you who somehow missed out on the first trip around, Max Payne is a story of revenge wrapped noir coat so thick that the game occasionally comment on how warm it is. It serves as an almost noir for dummies book. could not sit through Chinatown? Max Payne will teach you all there is to know about noir.
But for silly like writing sometimes, it's still a good story. You will run into a few moments that really gut-wrenching before you hit the 5-minute mark. But I would not dare to plunder the game 11 years old, so I'll stop there. If you want to know more ... Well, I assume you know what to do.
There is little sense in reviewing a 11 year old game that won nearly every award it could be when it was first released. It was also established that Max Payne is a fantastic game, but also ELEVEN years old. That means it comes with all the baggage that the game has received a 11-year-old. So, rather than focusing on the Max Payne game, let's talk about iOS port of Max Payne instead.
This is the absolute best game ever looked. In the new iPad, the game saw the resolution and clarity that is a pipe dream when it first came out. Indeed, low-resolution textures, but they still look pretty good given the iPad Retina Display. Between level "comic book" Retina resolution did not order, but it's not a big mystery why.
I doubt anyone in Remedy imagine anyone wanting to play games at resolutions ridiculous, so it is likely that they never create a super high-resolution assets for anything. But, thanks to how well everything upscales, they still look pretty good. Although not age as well as the Grand Theft Auto 3 ($ 4.99) did visually, it is still a great looking game. Bonus points if you can make it through the entire game without giggling face texture Max.
Control is about what you would expect from a virtual joystick. Max feels a little lighter when it moves, and looking around can be a pain, but the game is still very playable, partly thanks to the auto aiming system is quite competent. I know many people scoff at the idea of auto-aim, but it really makes the experience more cinematic and fun. When I turn off auto-aim, the result is clearly less than fun (and frustration often limits), but your mileage may vary.

The real problem with the default virtual control layout is that the hit zone of the button too close to each other. Because you are aiming at striking part of the screen, instead of the button, you will often find yourself jumping when you want to insert the bullet time. Small problem once or twice, but it is growing at a significant annoyance for game 8 hours. Like GTA3, you can move around on the screen button in the options, but you never really shake the feeling that this is a game made for the controller (or keyboard and mouse).
Playing Max Payne to complete take anywhere 7-10 hours. If you intend to make the trip, make sure to manage your own store files. Yes, Max Payne offers auto-save, but I found it to be unreliable at best, and downright rude at it's worst. Unfortunately, the game ported from the PC seems to bring more habit than if they were ported from the console. Max Payne is out of time in which we do not believe the game to save for us, so we take responsibility for ourselves. Max Payne for iOS has ported the spectacular feature, so make sure you adjust your habits accordingly.

I'll be the first to admit that I was super stoked about Max Payne coming to iOS. It is a game I loved on the PC 11 years ago, and I wanted to see how the rose colored glasses. The answer is, surprisingly, not roses. Although it looks old, and has a virtual joystick, Max Payne is every bit as big a game it was 11 years ago. I hope Rockstar has put more love into the harbor, but for my cost 1/25 of the original game, I'll cut them some slack budget.
Now if I could get rid of the flashbacks of this war, I will be in business.
