When I was little I had a jumping-jack toy that looks like a Cossack dance. He was a man of small timber with a pull-string hanging between his legs, and when you are tugging at the rope arm will move up and down, as if he was jumping, or dancing. It is this absurdity and laziness that makes both combat and upgrade system is largely meaningless. Combat is clearly inspired by the empowerment of the slow movement of Rocksteady's Batman series. As you progress, you slowly level, giving you access to a wide range of talent on five trees. I found the "Combat" most unhelpful tree. "Uppercut enemies into the air," one talent went off. But why put my point there when I've kicked them into the air is fine for this? Kick, kick. When I do get the "Combat" upgrade, they feel like an upgrade largely ineffective for the combat system has been damaged. My point is better spent on "Power and Speed", "Body" and "Bonus" tree, allowing me access to talent that increases HP I, or the rate at which I gained experience.
It might sound like a cynical laundry list of complaints, but it was not my intention. I mean, I come from the entertainment, if not pleasure, from the game. Several times I caught myself web-slinging about the city, or try to dive into the pond in Central Park from afar (which, by the way, does not hurt you), for a lot of time before realizing, "Crap, I need to play through things this." But it's not a sign of a successful superhero game. In a time when comics Marvel and DC squelch is disgusting junk built from the remnants of brilliant people like Jack Kirby, it fell to these other media to carry the torch.

No one could have imagined twenty or even fifteen years ago, but in 2012 if you want a decent, you turn on the main story superhero movies, or video games. We have a higher standard now. For seven bucks you can buy a few things that instill the same sense of simple, happily playing the The Amazing Spider-Man evokes at best, without the baggage. Such as action figures. Or jumping-jack.
